Song #44: ‘Supernova’

Here we are for the second instalment of the final ten! And it’s all about space.

This tune was written and recorded all within the past week, just a little spark of something interesting that turned into the whole song and dance.

It’s a song of flights, stars and space. And the thoughts that must be overcome up there, “far above the moon”. Even when things go wrong, we always grasp hope.

I dig it for it being unusually (for me) driven by piano, and it has space galore – but perhaps the best part is the change from a coolish verse to a warm, glowing chorus. I really loved singing it; it felt like you might if you had to summon your heart and soul and remember to fight for life.

I hope you enjoy stars dying and stars being born, in all sorts of flashes and fires.

Put your space suit on. Beam up.

  1. What a beautiful song! For me it has the hook, the special something, that denotes “hit single”. You just keep getting better and better!
