Song #15: ‘The Facebook Song’

Tongue. In. Cheek.

That’s what it’s all about this week! I thought it was high time for a fun song, nigh I get too serious and overwrought. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that…)

So, this song is for those who take a somewhat black-humoured view of the ups and downs of a thing like Facebook – like, umm, what the hell happened to personal contact in my friendships, man? Yeah. I said it.

I owe (and dedicate) this song to a friend of mine who I’ve known since kindergarten, and who, during chats over many a wine, told me this superb story of a one night thing with a chap, where they spent hours learning about each other and hitting it off like magic (is this The One?, they thought) – and amazingly, all by sitting together and living through the info and memories on each other’s Facebook.

(Is that how we do it these days? Cray cray.)

Who knows what happened afterwards…

Anyways, she knows who she is and I thank her. This song could not help but be written.

So I hope you take this one the way it’s given; it’s silly, it’s fun, it’s a story, and it’s for singing along like a dipstick. Mark Zuckerberg eat your heart out.

Enjoy!

(Oh, the chorus? Well…
I’ll look you up on Facebook
I’ll show you all my friends if you show me yours
Don’t telephone, just send a message
One status update will say it all
So I’ll look you up on Facebook)
