Well here we are at week 2 of 52! All I can say is whoah. Quite a way to go. Scared shyteless. And excited. Fun combo, I can tell you.
This week was interesting – ‘Burning Up’ was mostly written in one of those half-an-hour flurries, just on Saturday. Then I finished it on Sunday (yesterday) and went straight to the “studio” (read: bedroom) and laid it down. Super fresh.
It’s a quiet song, no beats, just guitar and voice; kind of spacious. I think it’s a bit pretty.
It’s about coming back to earth from space, but maybe things aren’t going right, maybe all you’ve got left is hope. Or, perhaps, it’s about those who keep on holding on and hoping, when maybe they should let go. Before they disappear entirely.
But maybe they’re still burning up.

Thanks Jo, glad you dug it. You know, I hadn’t thought about that, but yeah, it could be. Although perhaps it might be a little sad – might need to work on something with more triumph in it! Good call.
