To Sleep (To Dream?) - Lliam Caulfield
I saw a production of Hamlet the other day – it was magnificence on a stage. Kid you not.
I came home from said production and this is the song that it begat (and erupted). The chords are something I have been toying with – a classic old-school bluesy thing, really – but it came over so slow and dark and beckoning, it just fell straight into the incredible vibe of the play.
If I was to distil the anguish, nay absorbed schizophrenia, of that world, perhaps it would taste like this.
Feeling moody? Get out a candle or whatever makes it work for you, and crank this fella up in a spacious room.
Whisper if you need to.
This is powerful stuff! Wonderfully moody, with great lyrics as always. Love the guitar!
What an amazing song to appear on the day of Lou Reeds death. Perfect!
“He was a man, take him for all in all,
I shall not look upon his like again.”
Beautiful – inspiration appreciated – something had to come from this! Wow!!
